Step inside Melinda and James’ Olowalu Plantation House Wedding!
Olowalu Plantation House is a private estate wedding venue located just south of Lahaina, on Maui’s West Coast. This historic estate property turned wedding venue offers something rare that you won’t find when planning a wedding at a resort, exclusivity. Melinda and James were able to have a more personal setting at Olowalu Plantation House with no outside guests on property during their wedding. Though the venue is grand in scale, this gave their wedding day a more intimate feeling.
There were many moments throughout Melinda and James’ Olowalu Plantation House wedding that leaned into their love story. The beautiful couple opted to begin their wedding day with a first look. They met one another on the lanai of the estate home. They both emerged from a separate, side-by-side door, turning slightly to the side where they met face to face. It was a different take on a traditional first look. Usually, the bride walks up behind the groom and taps him on the shoulder. However, this particular approach to a first look spoke volumes of the love they share. James was beaming, after laying eyes on his bride for the first time that day. Melinda was positively radiant with joy at the sight of her husband-to-be.

With the first look complete, the bride and groom posed for some formal photos with their wedding party before heading the ceremony, side by side. Their wedding ceremony took place on the tranquil lawn of Olowalu Plantation House. Tall palm trees swayed in the breeze and the peaceful sound of the crashing waves filled the air as Melinda and James were pronounced husband and wife.
Melinda and James’ al fresco wedding reception was held opposite their ceremony space. They spent the night dancing under the stars in the company of their friends and family. Before the night came to a close, the bride and groom were treated to a mesmerizing performance by a traditional Polynesian fire dancer.
